Kajal denies partying with Prabhas

Rumours always spread aganist the lead pair of the movie if both of them are single. The same happened with Prabhas and Princess Kajal Aggarwal.

A section of the media recently claimed that Kajal Aggarwal was in Bangkok on New Year's eve, and welcomed 2012 in the company of Tollywood actor Prabhas. Both shared the screen space together in the super hit movie 'Mr Perfect'.

"I am not dating anyone. I am very much single. It's absolute rubbish that I was with Prabhas during New Year's eve. I spent the day with my family members," says the princess, who was always open about her relationship status and always maintains that she would like to be in a relationship but the work is sufficient for present and that she would be disclose if she commits into a relationship. So folks Kajal Aggarwal is still single and happy working for her upcoming projects, so dont fall into the rumours of the press.

The Princess is also elated about the success of her movie in Tollywood, 'Businessman', Princess says, "This year is crucial for me as I have Maatraan and Thupaki with Vijay. Also, my sister Nisha is making her debut in Kollywood with Ishtam."

Let us whole heartldly support her and hope she continues with her success run throught out this year and in all her upcoming projects

About her role in ‘Dhada’, Kajal said, “Dhada is a special film among all my films in my career so far. The story of ‘Dhada’ is youthful but there is a combat in every character.  I played a young woman named Ria. It is a good emotional character who longs of her mother’s love and lives with her memories. Incidentally my characters in ‘Mr Perfect’ and ‘Brindavanam’ also have no mother. Another plus point for my character in ‘Dhada’ is Chinmayi’s voice. She did extraordinary job in dubbing.”

About Dhada shooting experience she said, “The major part of ‘Dhada’ shooting was held at overseas when compared with all my previous films. ‘Dhada’ was shot in countries like Philippines, Bangkok, Australia, etc. I had a great experience shooting in those places. The songs in this film are a feast to eyes.”

About her co-star Naga Chaitanya she commented, “Naga Chaitanya is a very reserved person off the screen. But on-screen he is very energetic and keeps the atmosphere active. Since I’m senior to him I used to pull his legs.”

On Kamakshi Kala Movies banner she opined, “It’s a wonderful experience to work under Kamakshi Kala Movies banner. I can never forget the affection shown by producer Siva Prasad garu and his son Chandan Reddy.”

About her film career she said, “I’m very happy and satisfied with the way my film career is progressing. So far I’ve worked with many new directors and new artists and did many roles that have immensely satisfied me.”

About stardom she opined, “I do not believe in stardom. I never bother much about the concept of No. 1. According to me if I’m able to do justice to the roles I portray that itself is a great success to me. That’s it.”

On her film with Mahesh Babu she said, “Yes, I’m doing the film ‘The Businessman’ opposite Mahesh Babu under Puri Jagannath’s direction. Puri Jagannath garu designed my character in a very different manner. I’m very excited to work with Mahesh Babu for the first time.”

About love she opined, “I don’t believe in ‘Love at first site’. To love someone you should know that person well. There should be an intimate bonding between the two. That is only called love. In my case I’m presently busy with tight shooting schedules and hardly have any time for love. However, if I get a person as per my taste I would certainly marry him without delaying.”

When asked about how she would spend her free time she said, “I love to sleep and I sleep at 9’O clock however busy I am. I spend my free time with my family members and my cousins.”

About offers in Bollywood and her dream role she said, “I have few offers in Bollywood which I will let you know very soon. I would love to do a full length action film like ‘Charles Angel’. 

When asked about her dubbing in Telugu she replied, “Yes, I do have an idea of dubbing my own voice for the characters I play. I’m thinking about dubbing for my characters in the near future.”

Ajay was all praises for Kajal Agarwal and said that she is a superb performer and acted through all the scenes with ease.. He also said that she might have been a new comer to the tinsel town but.. she has got a great set of skill which made her a top actress in the Southern parts of India..

Interview : Kajal, Ajay and Rohit

 Singham, the Bollywood remake of Suriya-starrer Tamil film Singam, is ready to hit theatres. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film has Ajay Devgn and Kajal Agarwal in lead roles. The lead pair and the director had an interaction with media through video conferencing on Wednesday.

What is the meaning of Singham? Rohit Shetty: It is a Sanskrit word which means lion. In the film, the hero's nickname is Bajirao Singham.

Indian cinema is showing cops like super heroes. Is this the revival of super heroes?Shetty: It's just the revival of heroism.

Why is Bollywood in a hurry to remake movies from South India?

The trend of remakes is not new. Munna Bhai MBBS was made with Chiranjeevi in the lead.

Apart from an out-an-out action movie, what more can we expect in Singham? Rohit: It's a simple story with earthy characters. It is not a Bond film, so to say.

What is the thing that made you say ‘yes’ to Singham? Ajay Devgn: It has been eight years since I worked in action movies. I felt Singham had the right kind of script. The way Rohit designed the project attracted me.

How different is this from Phool Aur Kaante?

Technically, this is better. Competition creates pressure on film-makers to make films extraordinary.

Any item song in the movie?

No Sheela, no Munni. And the next movie is a comedy family movie.

From fun-filled Golmaal to actionfilled Singham. Which one did you enjoy working in?

Well, both were different. I like to keep switching between comedy and action.

You rarely appear in romantic films?

Will do the moment when I get a nice script.

Apart from Ajay and Salman, who is the next action hero?

I can't think of these new boys in action zone. Tough to name any.

How do your movies fair in Bangalore? Why haven't you come to Bangalore to promote the film?

Basically,I am too lazy to promote my movies. Production team is working on it.

Why Kajal, not Kajol, in Singham?

Every film has a script and every script has a character...

Feedback of audience (Bangalore) to your movies?

Some fabulous response, some not heartening.

Any plans to shoot in Bangalore in future?

I would love to. I will, given a chance.

Films like Singham don't have much scope for heroines. Why did you choose it? Kajal Agarwal: I don't think so. My character is very strong in the movie.

Tell us about your character? Kajal: It is the role of an innocent girl.

What do you like in Bangalore?

I like MG Road and Garuda Mall. Bangalore rocks!

Kajal Aggarwal  believes all her Telugu films have fabulous remake value and Salman Khan is the best choice for Magadheera's Hindi remake.

Kajal Aggarwal is an addition to the growing list of actresses, who are born and brought up in Mumbai, but have made a successful career in South Indian cinema. She will be seen opposite Ajay Devgn in the upcoming action flick Singham . In an exclusive conversation with Gaurav Malani , she speaks about both, Bollywood and South cinema and how she wants all of her Telugu films to be remade in Hindi.

Wasn't (Ash-Vivek starrer) Kyun Ho Gaya Na your debut film!
I did Kyun Ho Gaya Na when I was in the ninth grade! I was still a kid then. So I would consider Singham as my Hindi debut. At that time acting was never on my mind and education was a priority. I wanted to pursue MBA but I strongly believe in destiny, which I guess, had different plans for me.

After Telugu films, was Bollywood the next obvious step?
I never strategized my career as such. I never planned that I wanted to start in Hindi films after working in a certain number of Telugu films. I am lucky that things have been naturally falling into place so far.
Were Singham makers particularly looking for a South actress for this Tamil remake?
Not really! Rohit Shetty wanted a fresh face for the film but also with an acting background to her. They did not have time to teach anybody. When they saw my film Magadheera , which is a huge hit in South, they felt that I was perfect for the part in Singham .

Considering it's a male-dominated action flick, how much scope do you have?
There is also a sweet romantic story attached to Singham . Though I have a short role in Singham , it is an important part. I do not believe that the screen-space allotted to a character would define their acting ability. And I personally believe that even if the role is short, the impact that the character makes in that time is more important.

Ajay Devgn is known to be a prank-master. Did you fall prey of his jokes?
Ajay is a wonderful actor and pulled a prank on me on the first day itself. I was asked to scream for a scene and later I realized the camera wasn't rolling at all. But I think it was a nice way to break the ice.

What is that one thing you learnt from Ajay Devgn?
The ability to get into the character once the scene rolls and cut-off from it when the director says cut. The ease with which he does that is remarkable.

Which is a better film – the Hindi or the Tamil Singham ?
It is unfair to say that any version is better than the other. But I do think there have been changes made in the Hindi version which would suit the Hindi audience sensibilities. While the female lead (Anushka Shetty) in the original was a Tamil character, we have changed her into a Goan Maharashtrian in Hindi.

How comfortable were you with the Hindi language?
I am born and brought up in Mumbai, so Hindi and Marathi come very easily to me.

In that case how comfortable were you with Telugu language when you started in South?
Initially I had to work very hard over the language but now, after 4 years of experience, I am quite fluent with it. I am still learning Tamil though.

Would you want any of your South films to be remade in Bollywood?
All my films have fabulous remake value but I don't have a say in this. It's more of a director's call. But if you ask me, I would want all my South films to be remade in Hindi.

If Magadheera was to be remade in Hindi, which Bollywood hero can pull off the character?
The male lead in Magadheera has a lot of heroism in terms of his attitude and body language. Many Bollywood actors have the potential to play the lead in Magadheera . Choosing one is difficult but I guess Salman would suit the role best.
Post Singham what would be your focus – Hindi or Telugu cinema?
I would want to strike a balance. While my loyalties remain in South cinema, since I started out there, I would want to work in Hindi films as well.

Q:

How do you feel about making a debut opposite Ajay Devgn?

A

Ajay Devgn is one of the best actors this country can boast of. So I am glad to be debuting with him.

What made you venture into Bollywood?

A

It happened by chance. I was doing a couple of films down South. It was bound to happen at some point in my life considering that I was born and brought up in Mumbai. I've lived here all my life. It was a very natural progressionn towards Bollywood. I am very happy doing my films in South.

Q. 

How did you land with role in Singham?

A

Rohit offered me the role after seeing my south film Magadheera. He was looking for a simple amd innocent girl for the role and felt i fitted the bill perfectly.

A lot of actresses from South make dream debuts and then disappear into oblivion. Are you here to Stay?

A

I am a Mumbai girl who went down South, made it big and is now back to the place where she belongs. I have not seen myself as a South Indian actress. I am a Punjabi girl.

Q

Compared to South, Bollywood is way bolder and glamorous. How do you plan to keep up to it?

A

I have my limitations. I have never kissed onscreen. I had cheated a kiss once in a South film.

Kajal Never Eats Rice

    Kajal Agarwal is the talk of Tollywood now. The actress is not only bagging good films, but is also being paired opposite top stars of T-Town. Kajal is busy in the Tamil industry and is doing a Hindi film too. “I never feel stressed because I never work overtime. I sleep well and drink lots of water,” she says. Ask her about her food habits and the actress reveals that she “never eats rice”. Kajal, who is back in town after months of hectic schedules, says she missesHyderabad when she is away but she does not miss biryani. 
The actress also says that she is not scared of competition from her home industry even while her sister Nisha Agarwal is busy with a couple of Telugu films. “I welcome home competition,” she says laughing. She is also happy with the way her sister’s career is shaping up. “She is not in a hurry to sign films, we are looking for good scripts for her,” she says.

The current numero uno, Kajal Agarwal talks to Hyderabad Times about her streak of successes, Bollywood venture, Tollywood friendships and her style quotient

Tollywood treats actresses like the latest fashion trends — a new one every season. But Kajal Agarwal is one of the few female stars, who has managed to become a familiar face in the minds of Telugu viewers, amidst a sea of newcomers. Still basking in the success of “Mr Perfect”, “Brindavanam” and “Darling”, the actress is on a career high — she now gets to romance biggies Mahesh Babu and Pawan Kalyan in her future projects, not to forget her meaty role opposite Ajay Devgan in her Bollywood debut, “Singham”.
After a hectic shooting schedule for the same, the actress is just back in town. “It is wonderful working with Ajay Devgn. I’m happy I’m debuting with him in “Singham,” said Kajal, who laughs off rumours about her shifting base to Bollywood. “I love Telugu films too much to ever think of moving. I start missing Hyderabad when I’m away for shooting. I will do Hindi films only if the scripts excite me. And since there are a lot of South Indian technicians working in this Hindi flick, I felt comfortable,” she adds.
Back ‘home’ in Tollywood, she is busy enjoying her star status, doing movies with all the top stars. “I am in a very happy place right now. Three of my films have been back-to-back successes. If people think I am number one, I would like to say a big thank you for the compliment. But frankly, I don’t believe in the dirty number game. I compete with myself. I’m glad I got to work with most of the young actors. I share a great rapport with all of them, be it Tarak, Prabhas or Allu Arjun.”
Prabhas, a little more than anyone perhaps? “Just because I did two films with him, why should I be linked with him. I am single, but I really don’t have time to ‘mingle.’ I share a cordial relationship with all in the industry, but all my true buddies are in Mumbai,” clarifies Kajal, who also keeps the T’wood girls at bay. “We actresses exchange courtesies when we meet at events, but I never discuss my work with them. Samantha and Tamannaah are the only ones I can count as friends.”
Bringing the focus back to work, Kajal is all excited about her project with Mahesh Babu. “When I entered Tollywood, “Pokiri” was the first Telugu film I watched. From then on, I wanted to work with the Puri-Mahesh combo,” she said.
So content is she with her current career path that even the brickbats she got for her last film, “Veera” doesn’t deter her. “I signed up for the movie because I liked the character, ‘Chitti.’ For the first time, I did a ‘mass’ role. It was an experiment, my job was to work hard. The fate of a film is not in our control,” she says.
Kajal is also fast earning the tag of being one of the most stylish actresses in T’wood. “I try to experiment with my look in all my films. For now, I’m working with designer Vikram Phadnis. I do most of my shopping in Mumbai,” she says.

How did you zero upon Kajal Agrawal to play the female lead?
I had seen her in the Telugu hit Magadheera, one of the costliest films made there. For Singham, I was looking for a new face. And I wanted someone who I did not have to work on or teach acting. And when I saw Magadheera, I got what I was looking for. Kajal is a simple girl, not the typical model type but like the girl-next-door. She does not come out of the water in a two-piece neither is she showing her cleavage. Moreover she is an established actor in Tamil and Telugu and she is a good actress. She has no problem with the language as she is a Mumbai girl born and brought up in Churchgate. I think she is like how Anushka Sharma was in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

Tell us how your Bollywood offer came by.I got a call from Rohit Shetty. He said he saw "Magadheera" and liked my performance. At first I had problems with the dates but finally we were able to work them out. We will start shooting in Goa in March.

You must be looking forward to working with Ajay Devgn?Yes I am. In fact I want to work with the best technicians, best directors and best actors across industries. I want to work with all of them.

This is your second Hindi film.I would say this is my first full-fledged Hindi film. I was barely 14 when I did a cameo in "Kyun... Ho Gaya Na!". I would say " Lakshmi Kalyanam" was my first film."

Going by past observations, many Tollywood heroines had used their stint in the industry as a launchpad to Bollywood...I think it's unfair to say that. I'm not shifting to Bollywood. I am just doing a Hindi film. I know Hindi and I am comfortable with the language, but acting cuts across the language barrier and I love doing Telugu films. I love the industry, I'm not going anywhere.

So you are doing a Kannada film, a Tamil film and a couple of Telugu films.Right now I am working on "Mr Perfect" with Prabhas, "Veera" with Ravi Teja, an untitled Ajay Bhuyan film with Naga Chaitanya and "Singham." If everything works out I'll do "Merupu" with my "Maga-dheera" star Ram Charan Tej. But nothing is finalized as yet.

Do you see a change in the way films are being made in Tollywood these days?There is a change in audience taste and therefore the films change to cater to them. After all filmmaking is a business. Audiences are asking for different films and it slowly is bringing a change. Telugu films may not be as realistic as Tamil films, but I love cinema that is larger than life. I have no qualms dancing around trees. I love it!

How is it like to have your sister Nisha Agarwal testing waters in Tollywood?It's lovely. I am there to support her and give her advice, but she will have to slog it out. She's a hardworking girl!

In "Brindavanam" and in "Mr Perfect" you shared screen space with other heroines. What makes you accept films in which you are not the sole heroine?
I am comfortable sharing screen space with others. I am secure and I know who I am. I have no issues working with others, I don't fall for comparisons and I know my rules and as long as I am satisfied with the role I play I have no other problems.

Do you have friends in the industry?I have no dear buddies but I have a very good working relationship with all my colleagues.

What are you reading and watching these days, any vacation plans?I am reading "Discussion on Youth" by Daisaku Ikeda. It's a lovely book that deals with the problems youth face be it at work or with friends. When I read the book I feel as if I am taking part in those discussions. I have watched a DVD of "Udaan", it's a brilliant movie. As for vacation plans I enjoyed a good one and half month break during the Tollywood strike. I am looking forward to work now!
